Items of 50 words or less from non-profit groups and community organizations will be printed once free of charge. The rate for further runs or items over 50 words are $5 for 50 words. Clubs & Community Services Council Benefit Dinner There will be a benefit spaghetti dinner for Vanderpools (whose house bumed last week) on Monday, March 19 at the elementary school and will be a spaghetti dinner from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. For more information, contact Lorl at 741-1082. 50th Wedding Anniversand The family of Melvin and Allene Jenkins invite you to come help them celebrate their Mom and Dad's, Grandma and Grandpa's, G.G. and Great Papa's 50th Wedding Anniversary on Saturday, March 24th at the American Legion Hall from 2:00 to 6:00. Please bring your favorite side dish to share. The meat, drinks, and table service will be provided, along with cake for dessertl We hope you will be able to join us for this wonderful event. Winter Sports Banquet The Winter Sports Banquet will take place on March ,20 at 6:00 PM in the Elementary multipurpose room. Boys are asked to bring a main dish and a dessert. Girls are asked to bring a main dish and a salad. Bring your own table service. Rolls and drinks will be provided. Horse 4-H Meeting Horse 4-H club will hold a meeting at the County Extension Office on March 19 from 6:30 to 7:00 PM. It will be for all kids in horse or horseless 4-H or any others who have not signed up yet. (Yes, you can participate in horse 4-H even ff you don't have a horsel) Clover buds with the ability are welcome to participate also. There will be a separate show for clover buds. Chinese Dinner at Senior Center The Council Senior Center will be having a delicious Chinese Dinner on March 24th at the Council Senior Center prepared by guest chef Greg Chan from the New Meadows Senior Center. Starts at 5:00 PM. Cost is 88.00 per person with 12 and under $5.00. Please plan on attending to help support the ever-increasing cost of keep- ing our center open and running. Music will be provided by the "Jammers." Adams County DMV Extended Hours In order to further serve the public, the Adams County Motor Vehicles Department will be extending its hours of operation. Beginning March 19th, 2012 the Motor Vehicles Department will be open from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. The department will continue to remain open throughout the lunch hour. Reserve Officer Meeting There will be a Reserve Officer meeting at 1900 at the SO 14 March 2012. Training will be conducted by ISP Officer Cpl. Boll on drug identification, on and in individ- uals. Officer Boll has had extensive DEA training and will be available after his presentation to answer questions. All Fire, EIVITs, SO Employees, and Emergency Volunteer Forces are invited to attend. Food & Movie Friday, March 16th at 6:30 p.m. at Families for Christ in the basement of Tater Tots. We will have food beginning at 6:30 PM, and movie starting at 7:00 PM. Applications are due by April 2, 2012. This position is open to girls aged 14 to 20 years old and who live in Adams or Washington Counties only. Clothing of the 1890s The Cambridge Community Library will sponsor a pro- gram "Clothing of the 1890s" on Tuesday, March 20th at 7:00 PM. Sandra Hansen will be doing the presentation on clothing of that period and displaying some of the wonder- ful dresses and other items that have been donated to the Cambridge Museum. People are also welcome to bring an item of clothing from the late 1800's from their own fam- ily's treasures. St. Patrick's Day Dinner The St. Patrick's Day Dinner Gala to benefit Meadows Valley Community Development will be held on Saturday, March 17, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Ernie's Steakhouse at MeadowCreek Golf Resort. Watershed Advisory Group The Little Salmon River Watershed Advisory Group for DEQ will meet Monday, March 19 at 10 am at the Meadows Valley Library to discuss the final draft of the Little Salmon River TMDL Five Year Review. 'The Fosdick" Benefit Scholarship- 2012 The Meadows Valley Benefit Golf Tournament known as "The Fosdick" is offering scholarships to graduating seniors at Meadows Valley High School, to a MVHS gradu- ate attending college, and/or a non-traditional applicant who has previously graduated from MVHS or GED pro- gram and is a Meadows Valley resident. We'll wrap up the afternoon by 4:00 PM Weiser Kids' Bluegrass Academy The National Oldtime Fiddlers' Contest and Festival is hosUng a Kids' Bluegrass Academy, June 14-16, at Weiser High School. The camp is available to students ages 7 -14. The registration form is available at www.fiddlecontest. com. The cost is $295. Students can be at any level. A list of the classes are located on line at the above web site. Guest instructors are Jonathon Warren and the Billy Goats plus Jenny and Jon Jacobsen.
