Clubs & Community Services Council Friends of the Library Rummage Sale April 7th is the date, 8:00 to 2:00, and we need your donations! As you do your spring cleaning, think of the Council Valley Library! Items can be dropped off at the library any time after April 1st. On April 6th, the back room of the library will be open all afternoon (noon to 5:00) and donations can be dropped off then too. Thrifty Shoppe Summer Hours The Thrifty Shoppe is going to new hours for the sum- mer: I I:00 AM to 5:00 PM Tuesday - Saturday. form that was on legal sized paper, that is NOT the official form to enroll in the 4-H program. Phone; 253-4279 Email: 50th Wedding Anniversary The family of Melvin and Allene Jenkins invite you to come help them celebrate their Mom and Dad's, Grandma and Grandpa's, G.G. and Great Papa's 50th Wedding Anniversary on Saturday, March 24th at the American Legion Hall from 2:00 to 6:00. Please bring your favorite side dish to share. The meat, drinks, and table service will be provided, along with cake for dessert! We hope you will be able to join us for this wonderful event. You can also call 741-0496 for pickup. Your donations are appreci- ated. Animal Control Officer Needed The City of Council will be taking applications for the position of Animal Control Officer. Blood Drive Each year, spring brings new life to the world around us. The American Red Cross invites you to celebrate the joys of spring and help make a difference in the life of someone in need. Blood is needed every day, not just in emergencies or after a national tragedy. Our local blood drive will be held here in Council on Monday, April 2nd, at the Council Senior Center. Get Rid of Your Unwanted Pesticides Democratic Caucus Adams County Democrats will meet for a Presidential preference and delegate selection caucus at Council Elementary School, 202 Hwy 95, Council, on Saturday, April 14, 2012, at 10:00 a.m., to select a delegate to the Idaho State Democratic Convention. Any person who is a Democrat and a qualified voter of Adams County may participate in the delegate selection caucus. For further information contact Dan Rickard, 253-6439. Events & Activities Chinese Dinner at Senior Center The Council Senior Center will be having a delicious Chinese Dinner on March 24th at the Council Senior Center prepared by guest chef Greg Chan from the New Meadows Senior Center. Starts at 5:00 PM. Cost is $8.00 per person with 12 and under $5.00. Please plan on Idaho State Dept of Agriculture is having an pld pesti- cide disposal collection day in Weiser March 29th. Only pesticides, no fertilizers, paints, solvents, motor oil, etc. Anyone interested in getting rid of old pesticides can bring them to Adams County Weed Control in Council no later than March 28th, and we will transport them to Weiser. For info, call Adams County Weed Control, 253-4669. If you take your pesticides to Weiser, participation is free for the first 1,000 pounds of unusable pesticides per participant. St. Luke's McCall's Center for Health Promotion is offer- ing free diabetes screenings in McCall and New Meadows. Chamber of Commerce Meetings The scree~g ~es and locations are Tuesday, April 3, There Will be a Board of Directors Meeting for the Council I I a.m., and Thursday, April- 5~, Meadows Valley Public Chamber of Commerce at 12:00 noon, on Wednesday, March 28. The meeting will be held at the Downtown Chamber Offices. The Board is w0rlang on the Annum Awards Banquet, which is scheduled for Saturday, April 28, 2012. The Board is asking for community nominations for Man and Woman of the Year, as well as for other cat- egories being honored this year. The next General Membership Meeting of the Council Chamber of Commerce will be held at 12:00 noon, on Wednesday, April 4, 2012. The Meeting will be held at Council High School, and lunch is available before the meeting at the Elementary School. Plan to attend to add your ideas for the Annual Awards Banquet, April 28. If you don't have the official enrollment and medi- cal form turned in. call or email and we'll get you forms ASAP. If your child filled out an "Interest" Library from 9 to 11 am. No appointment is necessary. It is preferable to fast (water only) for eight hours before the screenings, but not mandatory. The free screening will include a diabetes risk evaluation, blood glucose test, and prevention information. Weiser Kid's Bluegrass Academy The National Oldtime Fiddlers' Contest and Festival is hosting a Kids' Bluegrass Academy, June 14-16, at Weiser High School. The camp is available to students ages 7 -14. The registration form is available at www.fiddlecontest. com. The cost is $295. Students can be at any level. A list of the classes are located on line at the above web site. Guest instructors are Jonathon Warren and the Billy Goats plus Jenny and Jon Jacobsen. Last year businesses and individuals in town were very generous with donations. So much that we had money left over to use for this year. The money left over is not as much as we normally A scare concerning a "Community Phonebook" came thru Council/ Cambridge/Midvale about one year ago, affecting local merchants and businesses. Several businesses were approached by a man named Sam Consalvi, who sold them advertisements in a community phone book that was to be marled to every have, but we can still have a fun egg hunt. We will not be asking businesses for donations this years, but ff you want to donate we will appreciate it and use it for the kids. The Washington County District Attorney is taking statements to go after this guy, and the Emmett Police Dept. is asking anyone who got scammed to send a brief statement to help prosecute him. Presently Sam Consalvi is in Texas in the news for office. Businesses and individuals here in town are always so generous with donations for our kids. We appreciate it so much.
