The Adams County Record h umway and Ludwig Honored By BARB DIXON Morgan Shumway and Bella Ludwig, who are sixth grade students at Council Elementary School, were invited as special guests to attend a dinner, which was held at the Weiser Elks Lodge #1683 on Saturday, April 28. Morgan and BeUa participated in the 2011/2012 Elks Lodge Americanism Essay Contest for fifth through eight grade students. Students in twelve schools from Huntington, OR to McCall-Donelly, ID participated. Morgan Shumway was presented with the 2nd place award for all sixth grade entries, and Bella Ludwig was presented with the 1st place award for all sixth grade entries, and also placed second at the district level. Wednesday, May 2, 2012 Page 15 Council FFA Wins Big The Council FFA chapter went to the of innovationaward for all the work that State Leadership Conference on April 11th and came home with many awards. Our Floral team was able to place 5th in the CDE (career development event) with Tessal Shepard placing lOth in the top ten individual scores. Brittany Armistead placed 1st in our division for scrapbook, and would like to thank those who helped her with the scrapbook this year. She really couldn't have done it without them. Hank Shepard and Chase Brown received their state-degrees. The chapter placed 1st for their community service and got an impressive looking trophy for all that they di& We also placed 7th in the state with our National Chapter award, and got a models we have done with Leland Tiegs and the leaf cutter bee huts. We hope to do well at State LeadershipConference next yeal; and are looking forward to working with our new state, district and chapter officers. Congratulations to Chase Brown, Tessa Shepard, Brittany Armistead, Michaela " Lattimer, Caitlin Hill and Cole Brown for being put in as next years chapter officers. Good luck!
