These boys placed well enough in the districtthat Williams, 100-meter dash, they will be going to state:- 4th place; Cody Shelton, Daniel Cameron, discus, 400-meter open, 4th place. 1st place; Hunt Lucas, Tyson Ivey, Talor Williams, shot-put," 1st place; Talor Cody Shelton, Nate Henderson and Willie Malone placed 1st in the 4 by 1, and 3rd in the 4 by 2. Big Winners at Quiz Bowl Later that week (10th) the Council's Quiz Teams took the top prizes /t a Quiz Bowl competition at McCall. [n their divisions, the 8th graders took home the 1st place trophy, and the 7th grade team took 2nd place On short notice, six 6th graders were chosen by Mrs. Paradis to go to the Quiz Bowl: Sarah Cook, Llanee Gibson, Morgan Shumway, Courtney out! 217 Michigan (Hwy 95) s., Council 253-0093 24 Hour Cardtrol Truck Scales/ Fish & Game Licenses Showers Deli Sandwiches Gifts BEER Western Tac Stanford, Bella Ludwig and Lance Nichols. Mrs. Trainor held a private ballot election to select two team captains: Llanee Gibson and Morgan Shumway. The name chosen f6r the team was "The All Star Quizzers" The team met in Mrs. Trainor's room for coaching and practice for several days, for about 30 minutes each day. Mrs. Paradis's 6 th grade class wrote about their experience: "On Thursday, May 10th, all of us went on a bus with the 7th and 8th grade participants. Mr. Brian Joyce coached them and was the Quiz Bowl leader from Council. Both Mrs. Trainor and Mrs. Mona Mired were asked to be judges. The judges were not allowed to be at their teams' tables. We competed against four other schools from the Long Pin League and ended up with first place! It was an amazing experience that we all enjoyed. We want to thank Mrs. Thompson and Mrs. Paradis for allowing us to go. Also, we want to thank our coach, Mrs. Trainor and her aide, Mrs. Ritch for helping and supporting us through it all!"
