Page 2 Wednesday, May 23, 2012 Plans as Precinct Dear Editor, I would like to thank those who voted for me for electing me North Council Precinct Committeeman! It was my first time to ever run for political office. I hope to represent you fairly. The first meeting is the District 9 Legislative Committee on Thursday, May 24 at 8 p.m. in Weiser. I just got the let- ter today, so there is little time for you to contact me with concerns before I go. However, please feel free to send me your thoughts at GrassRoots@ctcweb.net or talk to me in person. As I see it, the big- gest issue facing us in the near term is the potential recommendations of the Payette Forest Coalition as they study the Lost Creek/ Boulder Creek Landscape Restoration Project. In this, Dale Fisk and I are in com- plete agreement! In the May 2 Record Dale said, "It is Committeeman vital that the public real- ize that this poject may affect them. It is especially relevant to grazing permit- tees who run cattle with- in the project area, and to anyone "whose livelihoods involve the National Forest:' the Payette National Forest. Wendy Green talked about changing the time to an eve- ning meeting but those in attendance voted it down. Wonder why? I will go. If Dale will pub- lish my articles, I will report Absolutely!! Right on, Dale!! on the meetings. I will let I might add that it could affect folks who gather fire- wood; go fishing, camping, hunting, or who irrigate from the river. Is that you? Thought so. The next meeting of the Payette Forest Coalition will be May 31st from 10 a.m. To 3 p.m. I know that makes it hard for us local ranch- ers and loggers to attend-- but it is ideal for someone who works for an environ- mental advocacy group in Boise to leave work at 8:00, attend a meeting with lunch on an expense account, and get back to Boise by 5:00 p.m. So that is most- ly who is giving input to you know what issues are scheduled to be discussed and attempt to give your input. Also, I am taking a copy of Magruder's American Government, the text cur- rently being used right here in Council schools, to the Legislative Committee Meeting on Thursday. Talk to me at your peril on this issue! I am outraged and can point to pages and pages of examples. I will be working to get a different textbook adopted in Idaho.
