Local agencies and organizations in Adams County have created a committee to complete the required 5-year updates of these documents as part of the FEMA Pre- Disaster Mitigation program and National.Pire Plan and Healthy Forests Restoration Act. The project is being funded through a grant from FEMA. The planning update will include risk analyses, vulner- ability /ssessments, and mitigation recommendations for the hazards of flood, landslide, earthquake, severe weather, wfldland fire, terrorism/civil unrest, massive cropfailure, and extended power outage. Northwest Management, Inc. has been retained by Adams County to provide risk assessments, hazard mapping, field inspections, interviews, and to collabo- rate with the planning COliU,aL v --r--- ,.v - .... The committee includes representatives from local communities, rural and wildland fire districts, Idaho Department of Lands, U.S Forest Service, Bureau of Land Management, highway districts, private landown- ers, area businesses, various Adams County depart- ments, and others. One of the goals of the planning process will be to increase the participating Jurisdictions' eligibility for additional grants that will help minimize the risk and potential impact of disaster events. The planning team will be conducting public meetings on the third Thursday of every month at 10:00 am at the EMS building in Council, ID, to discuss preliminary findings and to seek public input on the Plans' recommenda- tions. The committee will meet once a month through December. Once completed, the updated draft Plans will also be available for public review and comment. The project completion date on this Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan is December 31, 2012.
