Page 2 Thank You Dear Editor, The Bear Fire Department would like to thank the Adams County Health Care Foundation for the donation given to them during the Chamber of Commerce Banquet. Xte grant will be used for safety equipment for the Department. Joe Warner - Fire Chief Dear Editor, I would like to take a minute to recognize the outstanding services provided by the Adams County Sheriff's Department, the Adams County EMS Services and especially the Adams County Coroner. Our family recently experienced a tragedy when we lost a family member to a heart attack. We had family visiting from Florida to help us celebrate our daughter's high school graduation. During a visit to our cabin between Council and Cuprum my brother- in-law suffered sudden heart failure. We are quite some distance from town but two Sheriff's deputies responded very quickly and the EMS team arrived shortly thereafter. All responders did everything possible to revive Gary Wednesday, June 6, 2012 Editor's Notebook Correction We have been told that, for the 9th grade Academic Excellence awards, in last week's issue the winners were Casey DeHaas who won Gold, and losie Henderson who won Silver. We and acted with the utmost professionalism during this difficult time. Xhe family greatly appreciates the efforts of the Sheriff's deputies and the EMS team. We would also like to publicly acknowledge and thank Sue Warner, the Adams County Coroner. Sue was very caring and helpful during the process. Sue even stopped by the house that evening to offer condolence and to answer any questions the family had. Thank you very much Sue for caring and taking the time to make sure the needs of our family were met. Brad and Mary Hild were also told that we neglected to include Bill Borg's academic awards for students. We did not receive the information for those awards. The Adams County Record New L ,ciltion and Conhx ,versy The Record is now in our new digs in the former Council Coffee Company building at 108 Illinoi's Avenue. We haven't figured out where everything goes yet, but we're up and running. I don't know what we would have done without Gamaliel to figure out all the computer and telephone wiring. School is out, so the pages where school news used to be more prominent will, no doubt, contain more news of summer activities as we swing into the busy season of weekend events. However there are still a few awards and such from the school year gone by which will appear in next week's paper, so stay tuned. This issue's article about Walt Okamoto was, as I say within it, something I struggled with -- how to handle it or even if we should print it at all. It would have been more appropriate before the primary election, but the lack of information and knowledge of how to find it was in short supply at the time. You may notice that The Star-News is printing a letter from Larry Bailey and Walt's response this week. I got a few statements from oer veterans, but the article Was already becoming too long, so those were not printed here. 7 RIVERS LIVESTOCK COMMISSION 1611 W. Salesyard Rd.
