,,4nb Page 20 Wednesday, June 6, 2012 Where is This? The Adams County Record This photo by Troy Schwartz is, without a doubt, a place you have all seen. q'he view is just a dif- ferent angle than the most familiar ones. You may have to look closely to recognize some very familiar features. The prize this week is a handy-dandy hand-made scrubber pad from D&L Herbs of Council. Entries must be in by 4:00 PM on Monday. I knew. last week's pic- ture would be a tough one. For one thing, there weren't too many visible clues. But it was such a great photo- graph that I couldn't resist putting it in. The shot was taken at Crystal Lake, which is not too far northeast of Black Lake. And for those of you who are still lost, Black Lake is a hop skip and a climb north of Bear and Cuprum at the very south- ern end of the Seven Devils Mountain range. It's a fair hike to reach the lake from the nearest road. The closest guess to get- ring it right was Black Lake. So, no winner this week. That's a first. I heard from a couple folks about the Bluebird building on Cuddy Mt. and the adjacent area. Bruce Addington wrote: "Hi Dale, I always enjoy the pictures you put in the paper. One picture was of the Lead Zone Mine. During the 1940'S and 50's this mine was known as the Galena Mine. The Edna May was further down the mt. into No Business canyon, and there was no road to it. When I was about 8 yrs. old the Edna May belonged to my dad, Hugh Addington and his partners, Lester Levander and Lester's mother" Bill Daniels said the sign on the building has read "Bluebird" for as long as he can remember. But I also heard from someone who had a similar memory of the building being associat- ed with the Edna May mine. Bill's account is undoubt- edly more reliable than my vague memory.
