Page 18 Goodrich BY DALE FISK It looks a little like a bomb went off where the county" road crosses Goodrich Creek about 15 miles from Council. But if you look down into the "bomb crater" there are signs of recovery. The bridge that was there was obliterated by flooding in the spring of 2010 and was replaced by a temporary detour and culvert until the bridge Wednesday, July 25, 2012 The Adams County Record Bridge and Wilson project is .underway could be replaced. A simple bridge replacement has turned out to be much more than simple. Nothing has been simple in this project. Just to make the detour and temporary crossing, detailed arrangements had to be made with a private landowner to put it on his land. And then-there was the fact that the road on up Goodrich Creek had washed out. Well, it might be better said that the road became Goodrich Creek. To avoid future washouts due to the road being too close to the creek, the county made a deal with Gary and Carole Gallant to build a new road, through their land, up on the hillside west and" north of the under-construction bridge. Negotiations on this aspect of the project ran into some snags, but the details were finally worked out. From the bridge, Wilson Road has climbed up onto higher ground to the west for many years. From there, it runs west toward Cow Creek. (The Cow Creek Road is a whole other can of worms!) Near where Wilson Road tops out just west ofthe new bridge, the county has contracted to have a road built it reconnects with the north on the west side of original Goodrich Road. Goodrich Creek (through (See map.) Gallants property) until Huge piles of river gravel surround the concrete forms for the new bridge footings at the upper part of Goodrich Road. This map shows the detour around the bridge and the new section of road that will tie back into the Goodrich Road on the west side of the creek. (The road route shown is approximate, and not meant to accurately represent the actual route.) ]h,~ BY SENATOR MIKE CRAPO Rachel, a student at ,Boise State University, was preparing to visit a brother stationed in England when she ran into some issues getting her passport approved in time for the trip because of errors by a government agency.
