"Ihe Adams County Record Wednesday, September 19, 2012 Page Bear Facts t By Tina Warner- 258-4471 Tuesday afternoon son, Joe, and I drove up. to the Lava Mesa where we could look across and see the fire. It appeared to be in Mickey Creek or Wesley Creek, and was covering a lot of ground. We-saw no sign of helicopters or planes from where we were. The Forest Service is planning a meeting at the Bear School House Tuesday evening and perhaps we shall learn more about the fire. John Lyden of Sparks, Nevada was up to visit this week. John worked at Cuprum when the mine was working. He sold an old pickup, a Diamond T, to Joe Warner last year and Joe and son, Sam, rebuilt it. John came to see what they had done and visited awhile. He then stopped in to visit Ralph Carson, whom he had worked with at the mine, and spent the afternoon visiting. Sue Warner drove to Kamiah where she, Lois Jones and Susan Foster attended a meeting of the Order of Eastern Star. They drove to Lewiston after the meeting and spent the night and attended the Order of Eastern Star there before returning home. Sue said the smoke was so bad in places that she drove about thirty miles an hour at times. Butch and Lefla Cornell are spending a few days with family in Boise. Larry Cornell said there weren't very many in Cuprum this week. I think he said the count was about three. Bob and Mary Hogan and Mary's brother, Dave, drove up to spent a bit of time visiting Ben, Joe and Sue Warner over the weekend. Sharon Lee spent a few days at home last week. She has been busy all summer and she says she still has a lot to do. Doug and Emily went to their home in Council, Sunday. They have spent quite a bit of time at their camp here and donated lots of help to those getting in their winter's wood. Pastor's Corner by Wayne Freedman As I was laying on my back, in the dark, under the floor of our new church,-going over the design for the heat system by headlamp, it hit me that life is a lot like where I was at that moment. I had a plan I was trying to follow, but in the dark I could only see a short distance around me and I had lost track of how far I had progressed and where to drill next. Afraid of making a mistake I realized that I had to try to get my bearings before I did anything else. My immediate reaction thankfully was to pray. I acknowledged that God knew where I was and what I should do next. And then the first part of Proverbs 3:6 came to mind, "In all your ways acknowledge Him" and I stopped to ponder what that meant. To acknowledge someone is to first of all recognize them for who they are, and I immediately thought about His authority and ability in my situation. I had seen Him leading and providing time after time during the six years of our work on this building. So I admitted that this was His building project and asked for His direction one more time. Then it occurred to me that I needed to check what time it was and to my astonishment I saw that it was after 5:00 PM and I had a commitment at 6:00 PM. He had used my confusion to point out that I didn't have time to deal with this now. And in fact, I had another obligation in which I could acknowledge Him and save face by not being late. If I had continued'on my own to struggle with the problem, I'd have been late and probably made a mess of things. Later, when going over the plans in my office, I was able to figure out a diagram to take with me when I go back under there. What a thoughtful, knowing God I serve! O 217 Michigan (Hwy95) sh .
