The Adams County Record Wednesday, October 17, 2012 Page 13 I shot this bucolic scene back in August. At least the background should be a familiar view to quite a few folks. Get your answers in by 4:00 PM on Monday: 253- 6961 or record@ctcweb. net. I mistyped the phone number prefix as 243 last week instead of 253 and didn't notice it. I apologize to anyone who called that number. The prize for this week's correct answer is a tube of herbal lip balm from D&L Herbs and a wooden light switch cover from All About Wood. Last week's photo showed the west end of a mine tunnel that, at one time, went completely through the little ridge between the start of the Brundage Mountain Road and Highway 55. I'm told it is partially collapsed now. Thousands of people drive by this on Highway 55 every year and probably don't have a clue what it is. Actually the photo didn't show the tunnel opening, but you can't really see much of it unless you get right down by it. I featured this tunnel in a History Corner a while back about the Rock Flat mining operation, the big diamond (and other diamonds), and gems thathave been found in that area. We got 6 correct answers, and Louie Clark won the drawing and a choice of a tube of herbal lip balm or a little spray bottle of Arnica Flower liniment, both from D&L Herbs of Council.
