The Adams County Record Wednesday, October 31, 2012 Page 11 Continued from ffont page The forum was sponsored by the Adams County Republican Central Committee and moderated by Jeff Howard. Jason Hancock began the evening with a very informative talk on Propositions 1, 2 and 3. Hancock is the Deputy Chief of Staff at the Idaho Department of Education, and helped draft the Students Come First legislation. One of the more interesting facts he presented was that the requirement for high school students to take two online courses to graduate will still be in place if the propositions fail because they are a separate policy. After his talk, Hancock took a number of questions from the audience. One question concerned breakage of portable computers (laptops) and how long they would last in the hands of children. Hancock explained that the state has a contract to supply both the laptops and their maintenance/ replacement. He said the laptops are being purchased from Hewlett Packard and are commercial grade machines that are much more rugged than consumer grade laptops. Sheriff race Sheriff candidates from A to Z took questionsfrom the audience (Allen, Ludwig, Zollman). Don Allen emphasized his business experience, resulting leadership abilities and the outstanding qualifications of his designated Under Sheriff, Rick Wiley. Allen's name will not be on the ballot in the General Election, and those voting for him will need to write in his name. Independent candidate Vern Ludwig stressed his experience as a self- employed businessman and described how he would bring change to the current turmoil in the Sheriff's office. Both Allen and Ludwig mentioned their maturity and experience in life as fellow Republican Robin opposed to their younger James is running again, as opponent, Ryan Zollman. a write in candidate.
