The Adams County Record Wednesday, October 31, 2012 Page 13 BY BRANDY GIBLEAU Last Friday night the Lumberjacks played their last football game of the season. Some of the players ended their first high school football season, and some ended their last. No matter how it is viewed, the Lumberjacks ended the 2012 football season with a suspense- filled game against the Cascade Ramblers. The weather outside was cold and wet, but'the Lumberjacks didn't let anything affect how they played. Before starting the game the booster club took the time to recognize all senior athletes involved in football this season, including a special recognition to Will Canfield who was not able to attend the football game due to a serious accident earlier last week. At each other's throats, the Lumberjacks and the Ramblers were tied at the end of first quarter with a score of Lumberjacks 12, Ramblers 12. Still showing no mercy, Council and Cascade were tied again, each scoring 16 points in the second quarter. With a tied score at halftime, Lumberjacks and Ramblers each with 28 points, nobody could predict what would come of the final score. During the third and fourth quarter, both the Lumberjacks defense and offense proved successfifl against the Ramblers. During the second half of the game the Lumberjacks succeeded in scoring 22 points, while the Ramblers scored 12. The final score of the game was Lumberjacks 50 and Ramblers 40. This week's player of the game goes to a senior, number 22 Nate Henderson. Nate had 164 rushing yards, 86 receiving yards, 18 points on offense, 9 tackles on defense. Nate has been selected multiple times in a row to be the player of the week. Nate ended the season with a total of 1,587 rushing yards, 84 tackles, 9 sacks, and 148 points scored. The week's game include; Mick Wilson with 8 points, Daniel Cameron with 10 points, Jac Cook with 6 points, Lucas Daniels with 6 points, and Corbin Hedges with a 2-point conversion. Corbin scorers for last Hedges and Jac Cook also succeeded in getting the only interceptions o the game. A senior, number 27, Chase Brown made 10 tackles against the Cascade Ramblers, succeeding in making the most tackles for the night. Council High School will be losing nine seniors this year, but as next year rolls around, new talent will arise. The community support this football season has been fantastic. But, just because football season is over doesn't mean that it's. time to stop showing that Lumberjack pride. Basketball season is just around the corner, and get ready because just like football season, the Lumberjacks plan to keep bringing home victories.
