The Adams County Record Dental program coming to local- schools Adams County Health Center's Dental personnel have been going into the Council, New Meadows, Cambridge and Midvale Schools for the past four years to perform dental screenings and fluoride treatments. Misty Robertson, RDH, Expanded Practice, and Lauren Roberts, Dental Receptionist, went to the Council High School on November 7 and screened 46 students. They were at the Council Elementary School on November 13, and saw 39 students. Screenings in New Meadows School District are set for November 20, and then on to Midvale on November 27. Dental caries, more commonly known as tooth decay, is the most common chronic disease of childhood. It is five times more common than asthma. In addition to these facts, dental care is the most common unmet need today. It is a known fact that fluoride levels in Adams County water are lower than recommended by the American Dental Association, with barely a trace. Therefore, this service is invaluable to the children in our rural communities. The ACHC Dental Clinic appreciates the school districts willingness to work with them. Early detection and education on the causes of cavities are important measures to prevent tooth decay i.n children. Dr. Monte Eppich, DDS is the Director for the Adams County Health Center Clinic and manages the dental staff, which includes a Registered Dental Hygienist and part-time Dental Assistants.
