The Adams County Record Wednesday, November 2& 2012 Page 3 BY JERRY PIPER Last - Thursday night the employees of Cambridge Telephone Company met at Lakey's Caf6 to celebrate the retirement of Gordon Huff, and to honor his service to the Company. Gordon has been an employee of CTC :for over 32 years. Gordon officially started to work in May of 1980. worked the first couple of years for CTC on the Lowman, ID project and lived in Lowman. He worked with Ron Loux for a year of that time, then Ron went to work full time and Gordon came back to Cambridge. He worked with John Rolland for many of those years. John retired in 2001. At the time Gordon went to work for the Company, CTC had 5 employees. Gordon was the sixth at that time. For many of those years Gordon was CTC's plant supervisor. Gordon was raised and went to school in Haifway,-Oregon. He is a veteran, and served our country in the Navy during Vietnam. At the celebration, Gordon was presented with a special gift: a lamp designed and built by Carson. Kindall and Chad Johnson. The lamp was built using old telephone gear, a post and pedestal that you would see on a road side, an old rotary dial phone used as an on/off and dimmer switch, and a ground rod, and conduit. Gordon has defied the odds working for one company in the same area his whole career in a world where the work force will typically change careers 4 to 5 times in a lifetime. Gordon has seen many changes in the Telephony business, and been a major part of those changes for CTC. He has worked for two generations of the owners of the Company, first with Kermit Wiggins at the helm, and now his son, Richard Wiggins. Although Gordon will be missed by all of us here at CTC very much, you may still be able to catch him in the morning at Bucky's Caf6 for a cup of coffee. Gordon, from all of ug at Cambridge Telephone Company we wish you a long and happy retirement. Gordon Huff with his custom-made retirement gift.
