Adams County Attention: Adams County Property Owners Sunday, December 20 is the deadline for the first half of Adams County 2009 property.taxes and since Our office hours are Monday through Friday payments will be accepted through 5 pm Monday, December 21, 2009. The Treasurer's Office is open during the lunch hour for your convenience. Please be aware that late charge will begin December 22 and interest will begin January 1, 2010, so be sure marled payments are correctly date stamped. Sincerely, Connie Kesler, Adams County Treasurer and Tax Collector Council Chamber Xmas celebration, parade, tree lighting Saturday! The Chamber of Commerce Christmas celebration will take place on Saturday, December 12. Santa will be in Santa's House from 3 to 5 pm and again from 6 to 7:30 pm (note, morning session canceledl. Parents can take their own pictures ff they'd like. or they can have a photo taken of their children with Santa for $i, and pick-up of photos will take place next week. Craft stations are also planned for 3 pro. Bring your kids in to make great Christmas crafts and gifts at U.S. Bank, Timberline Title, Ameri-title, Pins and Needles and the Library. The parade will begin at 5:30 pm with lineup beginning at 4:45. As. always, entry is free unless you wish to pay $15 to have your float judged. Following the parade, there will be a tree lighting ceremony in the park. Post-parade chili-feed planned A chill feed will taRe place on Saturday, December 12, at 6 pm at the Council Senior Center. Come warm up after the paradel $4 for all you can eat chill, combread, cookies and coffee. Music will be provided by the Jammers. All ages are welcome. Financial Aid workshop for parentsstudents Monday, December 14 will be a workshop for parents and stu- dents looking to obtain financial ald for college. The workshop will be in the Council High School library from 6 to 7 pm. Parents of all high school age students are invited to attend. If you have ques- tions contact Fran Ogden at 253-4217. Biblical presentation to take place Are you or someone you know studying the apocalyptic proph- ecies of Daniel and Revelation and having a difficult time mak- ing sense of it? The Bible interprets itself. Come join 3 Angels Ctwistian Fellowship for a five-week presentation on Symbology of tile B/b/e, beginning on each Monday at 3 pm at the Assembly of God Church in Council. Community Church Christmas events planned On Stmday, December 20 at 10 am, a "Homemade Christmas Service" will take place at the Council Community Church, and then on Thursday, December 24 at 8 pm, there will be a Christmas Eve Service. A Blue Christmas .service will be held on December 23 at 7 pm at the Council Community Church for those whom the Christmas season will be a struggle due to a loss experienced this past year. It will focus on the hope that we can have amidst the heartache. Bingo night coming soon Friday, December 18, 7 pm at Council Senior Center. All ages welcomel Come play and _n at Bingo! Candlelight service planned A Christmas Eve candlelight service will be held at St. Jude's at 6 pm on Decembei" 24, sponsored by The First Lutheran Church Movie night Coming soon There will be another family movie night on Friday, December 11 at the Nazarene Church in Council. The film will start at 7 pm, and there will be refreshments available before the movie starts and at the intermission. CHS Xmas concert scheduled The Council High School Christmas Concert will be December 16 at 7 pm in the high school gym. Tree lighting ceremony, breast health education at ACHC The Adams County l-lealth Center would like to invite you to our Hope, Health and Healing tree lighting ceremony on December 14 at 5:30 pm. in the lobby of the Adams County Health Center. We will be serving refreshments and have a breast health education and screening presentation class immediately following. Silent auction planned to raise money for the PrO Christmas is just around the comer and with it comes the Christmas concerts at the Council Elementary School on December 9 and the Council High School on December 16. An exciting addi- tion this year to the concerts are Christmas Baskets donated by local businesses and individuals. The CES Parent/ Teacher Organization {Fro) has been asking for tile basket or gift certificate donations to be auctioned off with the proceeds going to the school through the PTO. The items will be present for silent auction at the Council Elementary School Christmas December 9 in the CHS Gym. Then they will be displayed at the US Bank, Dec. 10, 11, 14, 15 for silent auction. Finally they will be at the Council High School Christmas concert on Dec. 16. The items will then go to the highest bidder that night and the next day. Community choir plans concert ' On Sunday December 20 at 7 pm, the "Emmanuel: Celebrating There will be 50 doses available on a first come first served basis. The clinic will start at I pm and run until the 50 doses are gone or 3 pm. The costs for these llu shots will be: 6 months to 18 years, $14, and 19 years and over, $26 For more information or questions please call Andria Hall at 208- 253-4242 New Meadows Meadows Valley students to perform Dickens classic Children from grades 1-12 will be performingthe tradition- al Christmas story of A Christmas Carol, by Charles DicRens. Performance dates are: Saturday, December 13: Breakfast with Dickens followed by performance. A hearty brehkfast will be available at the high school cafeteria at i0 am, offered as an optional excursion for a minimal price. The performance will begin at 11:30 am. Sunday, December 14: Performance at 2 pm. Refreshments will be available during intermission. Tickets will be available at the door for both performances. Ticket prices are $5 for adults and $2 for students, and seniors. Parade of Lights contest The first annual Meadows Valley Parade of Lights, sponsored by the Meadows Valley Entertainment Committee is ongoing and the competition is open to everyone to decorate their business, home or yard for the holidays. Judges will be looking for the best use of lights and holiday decorations and there are great prizes fined up, including a 32-inch fiat screen television. Judging will be con- ducted on December 22 and 23. '. Indian Valley Trap club plans shoot The Indian Valley Trap Club has a Christmas shoot planned for December 20 beginning at 11 am. The women are scheduled to play volleyball beginning at 6:00 with the men playing basketball after. All are encouraged to come support a great eausel McCall Local artist group to celebrate Christmas McCall Artist Connection (MAC) will celebrate Christmas with a great party in place of their Monthly meeting On Thursday December 17 at 125B Commerce Street in McCall, across from Schwab, at 6:30 pm. Everyone is welcome to Join in the fun and food, for information call 208-315-2126. Santa's House will be open from I pm to 5 pm and again from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. Food pantry plans distribution Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry will be dlstributmg food on Thursday, December 17 at 3 pm. Please note that we would llke everyone to park in the Nazarene Church parking lot and proceed into the church. There you will receive a number and have a warm place to wait during these wintry months. When your number is called, you will proceed with your car to the alleyway behind the church and circle around to the front of the pantry. There you will receive your box. We will have attendants outside to guide you through this process. We21 work together to figure it out and get it done. Please note the January distribution is on the 12th, a Tuesday, at 3 pm. As we confirm dates and times, we will inform you of future distributions. Flu shots available Southwest District Health will be holding a seasonal flu immu- nization clinic at Adams County I-lealth Center on December 17.
