Document leaked on Brian Wood
BY DALE Frsx
Social media lit up
recently, with the leak of an
Ada County “Officer Safety
Extra Patrol" notice. These 22, 2016, was about Adams When
notices are meant to give
law enforcement a heads—
up on things to watch for
and to relay information to
law enforcement personnel
around the state. Since
they are not meant for the
public, they sometimes
contain speculation, but
this one went far beyond
mere speculation. v
The document in
question attributes most
of what is stated in it
to the Adams County
Sheriff's Office. There
was one big problem with
that. According to Adams
County Sheriff Ryan
Zollman, he didn’t even
know about the document
or the claims in it until it
was sent to him.
The document, dated
over 3 months ago, January
County officer Brian Wood, where the “information”
who was involved in the
fatal shooting of Jack Yantis
on November 1, 2015. The
document claims Wood
had recently become
“increasingly unstable," and
was separating from his
wife after some “domestic
violence issues” Part of the
document stated, “During
a conversation with Adams
CSO, Wood advised, 'If
cops get involved, shots
will be fired.’ Wood’s
in—laws currently reside
in Meridian and have
requested extra patrol due
to statements from Wood
that they are ‘not safe?"
As far as Sheriff Zollman
knows, none of these
statements came from
anyone in the Adams

originated, Ada County
Sheriff Office personnel
said someone claiming
to speak for the Adams
County Sheriff’s Office
had given it to them. They
had not called the Adams
County Sheriff to confirm
the information.
Somehow, word got
around that Wood had
been missing for two
days. This was not in the
Officer Safety Extra Patrol
bulletin. Zollman said he
had spoken to Wood at
the Sheriff’s Office the day
before and the day after the
bulletin was issued. Wood
had said his was going
through a rough patch,
but gave no indication
that anything serious was
occurring.
On his Facebook
page, Wood posted, “The
man who fabricated the
information in the law
enforcement bulletin lost
his job a couple weeks
later, and the man who
published the bulletin to
the Internet was arrested
by the FBI the very same
day, and is facing 10 years
in prison.”
KIVI TV, Channel 6, is
continuing to investigate
this issue. Video of Zollman
being confronted about the
situation can be viewed on
the station's web site: http://
