THE EXPRESSION, "'Here's mud in your eye," is a folk saying whose origin dates from the time when the gentry went about the country throwing mud in the eyes of the common folk by splashing them as they drove by in their fancy carriages. So when you say to one, "Here's mud in your eye," you are saying, in effect, "May you always he wealthy"--or in a position to throw mud in the eyes of other people! Authorized Catalog'Sal'es l&chan 122 Illinois Avenue - Council, Idaho PHONE 253-4248 Radio Station KYET of eayette and Ontario held a Tall Tale contest and one of our Council residents won the prize. Mr. Ralph Finn was de- clared to be winner of the contest and was awarded prizes of $50.00 for him- self and a sum of $100.00 which, at his direction, was presented to to Mrs. Frank Youngblood who accepted it for the Congregational Community Church of Council. The RECORD is pleased to quote here the text of Mr. Finn's 'Tall Tale' "A neighbor of mine, a dairy operator, also raised pumpkins and irrigated them with skim milk. They grew so fast he had to make little wagons for the pump- kins as the vines were wear- "\ ing them out dragging them around. They crowded the rail fence until it gave away and those pumpkins began nursing the range cows, preferring whole milk to their skim milk. Many fol- lowed the cows off and were never seen again, others rolled down the road presumably looking for a cow, thus causing a ter- rific traffic problem and many run-aways of the horse drawn rigs and also presenting a real hazzard to the T-model fords of that time. The County Commis- sioners solicited the people for money and paid my neighbor $16,000 to quit raising pumpkins.". It is believed by the Ed- itor of this paper that Mr. Finn will accept challenges from all comers I CADILLAC, INC. AND R.V. CENTIR Rme 5494)424 Weber.
