Once again this Halloween
the streets of Council were
alive with creatures and
characters of almost any
descriptioo_ A long line of
students from the dementary
school, along with teachers,
parents, and even a school
board member, swept
though downtown on
Monday; raiding the candy
caches of every bus'mess.

CHS Seniors

As part of Idaho's
college access initiative,
Council High School
participated in College
Application Week. On
November 1st, Council
High Schools seniors:
completed and submitted
at least one college
application and one
scholarship application
online. The goal of the
state wide program is
to get more students
applying to colleges and
universities early in their
senior year.
Council High School,
in conjunction with
TVCC, will also host a
FAFSA (Free Application
Council High School seniors participated in College Application Week
for Federal Student Aid)
night on November lOth
at 6:30 p.m. in the high
school computer lab. The
2017-2018 FAFSA opened 4217 or deppich@csd13.

The Council Chamber of
Commerce plans to spread
their 2016 Christmas Show
over two weekends this year,
in a change from former
years. Saturday, November
26, the Chamber will host a
daytime holiday parade, six
craft stations for the kids, and
an early evening Christmas
Tree lighting downtown,
followed by Santa House and
cookies and chili events.
Then on the next weekend,
Saturday; December 3, the
Chamber will present the
traditional Christmas Craft
Show at the Elementary
School Multi-purpose
room The decorations for
downtown Council will be
new this year and feature
candy canes and snowflakes
that are being crafted by the
high school shop classes.
Council businesses are
be'rag encouraged to make
"Wmter Wonderland" their
decorating theme.
Travel guide
Brandi Lincoln presented
a proposal for producing
a Highway 95 Visitors
Guide for 2017-18 which
would cover the route from
Weiser to New Meadows.
Lincoln owns Hells Canyon
Adventures in Cambridge
and has gotten strong
support there for a guide
that would advertise and

The Council Lions Club
has conducted part of its
.annual school year vision
screening, testing 170
children at Council and
New Meadows Elementary
schools, plus the Mountain
Life School in McCall.
Riggins will be visited hter
Lions screen Kindergarten,
First, Third, and Fifda grades,
plus any student a teacher
believes is having vision
problems.
The Lions Sight and
Hearing Foundation loans
uPlusoptix devices, which
are similar to those used
by ophthalmologists. The
devices we use only show
detected problems as a
referral. Hons urge parents
of students who have been
identified as a referral to
schedule a visit with an eye
