Son born to Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Walker of Cambridge, August 5. The Schoonovers ran a freighting operation into Dekemar and Silver City - also logged on Crooked River and, Pole Creek in addition ~o other places in the Northwest. They had 11 daughters and one son, and lived wherever they were logging or freighting. BOrn in Boise in 1880, he moved to Council in 1910, formed in his early years, and also has a minor and a logger. He later~ operated a dray company at Council, and then the Pastime here. He returned to Boise in 1950. He married Clanmce and Pearlie Phillips. Clarence's death was announced in the August 8,1968 Leader. Pearly Schoonover at Council in 1911. Survivors indude, his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Mildred Braden of Boise;, three sons, Arthur, Cascade, Paul, Council, and Lewis Phillips, American Falls. Aug 15, 1968 "The Evergreen Forest Products annual picnic was held Sunday at the museums at New Meadows with approximately 150 persons attending:' Eloise Colsor wife of Ted Colsor former owner of the Home Dairy Milk Distributor in Council, was named Adams County Fair Queen. Tying for second place were Mrs. Lillian Hibbard of New Meadows and Mrs. Betty Ireland of Council Marrieck Mildred Fuller of Boise and Robert S. hcobs of Council, at the home of the groom's father, Barr hcohs. Xhorp, 63, at the Council hospitaL She was bom in 1905 in Oregon, and was a longtime resident of Council and Meadows Valley. She married John Thorp in 1948. Survivors include her husband of Council; a daughter, Irene Winters, Portland; three sisters, Mrs. Ramey R. Childers, Council, Mrs. Lilly Ham, LaGrande, OR, and Mrs. Edith Jones, Coos Bay, Oregon; and five brothers, Laurence E. Rogers of Council, Emest and Earl Rogers of Weiser, Richard Hodges of Springfidd, Oregon, and Eldon Rogers, Casper, Wyoming. Council schools will open August 26. New teachers are Mrs. Hartrick, mathematics; Miss Kathleen Rich, librarian and English; Karen Judson, science; Garry Judson, eight grade and assistant coach; Sherry Iwerson, home economics; and Jay Williams, industrial arts. Local food bank and pantry receive funds BY DALE FISK The Idaho Food Bank Fund is distributing grants to 34 organizations working to solve hunger in Idaho and in your region. The grants total $88,800 in 2016, enabling recipients to further their missions in hunger relief The New Meadows Food Bank received $,1300 to and in their dry storage area. The Loaves and Ftshes Food Pantry received $900 for a freezer Most of the appliances at this pantry were old used ones that were donated. q-hanks to the Idaho Food Bank's generosi~, Loaves and Fishes has purchased several new appliances, updated 3 windows for energy efficiency .=ffective heaters for extreme cold. The Idaho Food Bank Fund was established by the 2009 Legislature as a cooperative effort between three well- respected statewide Idaho nonprofit organizations: The Idaho Foodbank, Community Action Partnership Association of Idaho, and Catholic Charities of Idaho. The donation has been on the Idaho State Income Tax Form 40 since 2009 allowing taxpayers to designate a donation to the Fund. The Fund accepted grant applications from any Idaho nonprofit that provides hunger relief. The Fund supports projects that expand existing food storage or distribution provide nutrition education, or otherwise increase support services related to hunger relief in Idaho. Qualified applicants for the grants must be 501(c) (3) organizations but are not required to have any connection with Community Action Partnership Association of Idaho, Catholic Charities of Idaho or The Idaho Foodbank.
