- Page 16 . Wednesday, November 2, 2016 "ihe Adams County Record OK, we thought we would make it easy this week. Get your answers in. by 4:00 PM on Monday: 253-6961 or record@ctcweb.net. The prize this week is our old favorite, herbal lip balm from D&L Herbs, just in time for those cold fall winds. Last week's picture confusicated a few folks, and we got several wrong answers. The pictures was taken from near the wind sock at the New Meadows airport, looking east (and a little north). I had never been right up to the airport, and you can't see it from almost anyplace else nearby. We've all driven right past it, but it's up out of sight from the highway, right on the north edge i of New Meadows. It's just a grass strip, a wind sock and some rocks painted white. Oh, before we get down to the nitty gritty, • we apologize for messing up the Record's phone number last week. Lenny bet us that a monkey could do our job, but the joke is on him, as the monkey mistyped our phone number as 253- 46961. We got correct answers from Lloyd Brown, Everett Olson Osborne and Teresa Strong. Actually, Lloyd was the only one who mentioned the airport, but we'll have to trust that the Meadows Valley folks recognized the valley buildings and features in the background. Our intern who is leaving after her summer here, Gladys Overnow, suggested we do something with aircraft, which we haven't tried before, with the exception of the hot air balloons that we still have in storage. We all climbed into the bus for a short ride to the New Meadows airport, where we found stunt pilot Yvette de Pants waiting with his biplane. Everett and Lloyd graciously allowed Teresa to have the first choice of what she could do to influence the judges with some death-defying (or intelligence-defying) stunt. Yvette and Teresa walked over to the biplane and conversed in quiet tones, so we couldn't make out much of what they s-aid, except the one time Teresa raised her voice slightly to utter, "Are you crazy!?" As the ladies got into the biplane, took off and circled the valley, accompanying photo that Lenny snapped. Lloyd and Everett shrugged and decided they didn't really want to try to beat that stunt, so Teresa Strong is the winner of our little dollar bill house, made Loraine Capener. reams. You've already dreamed up the blueprints. We may be able to help bring them to life.
