inches of snow.
They made the trip from

roads were mostly clear,
they drove much of the time
in the dark because the sun
now comes up at nine in the
morning and sets at two
thirty in the afternoon in
much of Alaska - and the
days will get shorter yet.
The day Delbert left Bar-
row, Alaska, the sun never
made it up at all.
After leaving Anchorage,
Claud flew to Boise where he
stayed overnight with his
brother Frances Ham. He
saw the doctor the next day
for a physical check-up and

noon.

A group ol volunteers
were seen working in the
drenching rain Sunday put-
ting up the Christmas lights.
They worked from twelve to
five and the only time they
stopped working was when
they took a coffee break.
While they were sipping
coffee, the rain stopped and
it immediately resumed
when they started work!
The volunteers were Bev
Coleman, Pam Glenn, Vivian
Crawford, Rosie Kilborn,
Clayton Hatfield, Rusty Hat-
field, Rick Coleman, Ran
Carico and Ralph Bass. Ellis
Wallace drove the forklift
which was donated by Boise
Cascade Company and Eric
and Kyle Kilborn ran
errands.
At one point, Bev Coleman
and Pam Glenn went up on
the forklift and Pam got
shocked.
Even though the fights
were worked on and in place,
they still need more electri-
cal work done on them
before they will be twinkling
"Merry Christmas" to all
the big kids and little kids in
town. By the time this news-
paper is in your hands we
hope they are doing just that
Merry Christmas. A big
thank you is in order to the
volunteers and B o i s e
Cascade.

Correction:
An item in the News of
Council in last week's edi-
tion having to do with the
unfortunate fall by Ray
Plummer at the country
club stated that the reason
for the fall was an inner ear
infection.We were mis-
informed. The cause of
his fall has not been deter-
mined.
Harold Balderson suffered
an injury to his eye while
logging. He was in his
skidding caterpillar at the
time when a object pierced
his eyeball. He is much
improved after a very painful
experience.
The hospital staff honored
Mrs. Otto Lakey with a pot-
luck dinner party for her
retirement. It was held at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Mort
Curtis last Wednesday.
Dorothy will retire January
1, 1978. She has been a night
nurse at the Council Com-
munity hospital for many
years, having started in
1946. She was presented
with a lovely hand painted
clock.
The Council Valley Grange

December 9th at the Grange
