T =an' Gourmet Cookware office. The Governor did his job. _.mer Stoon - A mill levy was set for the district and taxes have been collected to cover expenses of the Fire District. The City of Council advanced the money to pur- chase a very adequate fire truck, put it in good shape and agreed to work cooperatively with the Rural District in the operation of the equipment. They have been trying to do their job. The Rural District commissioners were empowered, under the Idaho Code, to enter such agreements, to sign contracts, to own personal and real property, to sue and be sued -- in short they have all the authority they need to put the system into operation• But it has not been done! And because it has not been done the taxpayers who are paying taxes to the District still have no fire protection. We don't know what their reason is for not having done what" should be done to get it going• However, it is more than just 'difficult' to believe that anything could be holding it back that could not be overcome in more than a year. Our Suggestion? -- That the Rural Fire Department Commissioners get on the ball and get this thing going before another tragedy happens - - - and if they can't or won't do it - - - get out of the way and let some person or persons get to work on it -- AT ONCE!
